As a family we learned a valuable lesson this past Saturday afternoon: when you fail to reach one goal, others are often accomplished. Although we had fully intended on bringing sixty large, juicy razor clams home to feed our friends for weeks, we ended up with two (and a half?) small, cracked, squigly things that David so kindly took off our hands. On the bright side, here's a list of goals we did achieve:
1) We stomped like children all over a vast portion of the beach at twin harbors.
2) We ran away from Sean and then towards him, we chased each other, and the birds, and then fled screaming from the waves.
3) We learned that sometimes the most satisfying meals come the places you'd least expect them, like the Blue Beacon in Aberdeen.
4) We visited our dear friend David in Olympia.
5) We made the acquaintances of several cows, climbed a very tall tree house, smelled a fragrant lily in the forest and bathed in a tub with no water.
These things (not clams) will keep us full for weeks.
